ABOUT THE OFFICE & DEPARTMENT
Inspector of Schools Office basically deals with Secondary Education which includes High and Higher Secondary Schools from Class IX to Class XII. However Composite Schools which starts from Class I or Class VI to Class X or Class XII also comes under the Jurisdiction of Inspector of Schools. The Senior Secondary Schools (Junior Colleges) as well as the Sanskrit Tols (having Class IX/X/XI/XII) are also a part of Secondary Education. The main objective of Secondary Education is to provide the Learner with opportunities to acquire necessary knowledge, Skills and attitudes for the development of the Self and the Nation and to promote love and loyalty to the Nation. Secondary Education is important because those are the years before entering the bigger and serious part of Education i.e Career. In Secondary Education, Students learn about General Subjects such as English, Maths, Science etc. as well as Elective Subjects. Looking into the importance of Secondary Education, Government as well as the Present Inspector of Schools, Dr. Samiron Bora, has taken necessary steps to improve the Quality of Secondary Education as a whole, in terms of Teachers, Students as well as School Infrastructure.

ACHIEVEMENTS :-
INITIATIVE TAKEN BY DR. SAMIRON BORA, INSPECTOR OF SCHOOLS, GOLAGHAT :-
1. Career Counselling Cell has been opened at 7 centres (Schools) of Golaghat District namely Numaligarh High School, Dergaon Girls H.S School, Govt. Bezbaruah H.S School, Doyang High School, Bokakhat H.S School, Khumtai H.S School and Sarupathar H.S School. Career Counselling Programme motivates Students and helps them to choose their right career fit for them.
2. Foundation Course namely “The Pillars” is a project launched at each and every Govt./Provincialised Secondary School of Golaghat District through which, students from Class –IX to Class-XII are prepared for different Competitive Examinations (Educational as well as Professional).
3. All Principals/ H.Ms of Government /Provincialised Schools are given Training on Cashbook, ledger and Accounts as a whole.
4. Punching Machine has been installed at each and every Govt./Provincialised School of the District.
Student Oriented Activities under RMSA (Rashtriya Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan):-
1. Different Programmes like Science Exhibition, Book Fair, Gandhi Jayanti etc are held under RMSA, where students of all Secondary Schools participate and discover a new environment altogether, which is very positive and encouraging at the same time.
2. Different Excursion Programmes like GyanYatra, Study Trip to Higher Institutions and Exposure Visit to outside state takes place under RMSA, whereby students get the opportunity to broaden their outlook and develop a wider perspective.
3. Special Programme for Girls’ like Self Defence and Yoga are held under RMSA, the Knowledge and practice of which make Girls capable of defending themselves from any attack and to have a sound health.
4. Remedial Teaching Programme takes place for the Slow Learners.
5. Programmes for CWSN (Children with Special Needs) students like Celebration of World Disability Day, Assessment Camp and Vocational Skill Training to CWSN students also takes place under RMSA.
6. Personality Development Programme for Children like District Sports Tournament, Kala Utsav, Saptadhara etc.takes place under RMSA.
TEACHER ORIENTED ACTIVITIES UNDER RMSA:-
1. Subject wise Teachers’ Training takes place under RMSA which develops the Teaching skills of the Teachers.
2. Leadership Training takes place for the Principals and H.Ms of High and Higher Secondary Schools in order to develop their leadership quality.
Other Recurring Activities under RMSA:-
1. Community Related Activities like SMDC Training takes place under RMSA, whereby SMDC Members are made aware of their roles and responsibilities in School Administration.
2. “DRISTI”, a School Inspection Programme, whereby all Govt./Provincialised Secondary Schools are inspected, in order to better the quality of Education at all Schools.
National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF):-
1. National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) i.e. Vocational Education has been implemented in 7 nos. of Schools till date.
2. The subjects of study are Information Technology, Retail Trade, Tourism and Hospitality, Healthcare, Agriculture and Private Security.
3. The names of Schools where NSQF has been implemented are- Bokakhat Town High School, Bokakhat Girls’ High School, Dergaon Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Bholaguri Kamala Miri Higher Secondary School, Kakodonga Higher Secondary School, Ghiladhari Higher Secondary School and Kuralguri Higher Secondary School.

ICT Lab, Smart Classroom and Atal Tinkering Laboratory:-
• ICT lab has been installed in 191 nos. of Govt./Provincialised/Non-Provincialised Secondary Schools of Golaghat District.
• Smart classroom has been installed in 3 nos. of Secondary Schools namely Betioni Higher Secondary School, Dergaon Higher Secondary School and Golaghat Govt. Bezbaruah Higher Secondary School.
• Atal Tinkering Lab has been installed in 15 nos. of Gov./Provincialised/Non-Provincialised Secondary Schools of Golaghat District.
OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS:-
1. Under Nirmala Achani, Sanitary Pads are provided to Girl students from Class- IX to Class-XII.
2. Laptop is distributed under Anandaram Barooah Award Scheme, to Students securing 75% or above in HSLC Examination.
3. Free Bi-cycle are distributed to BPL Girl Students of Class-IX and Class-XII.
4. Free Text Books are given to students from Class-IX to class-XII.
5. Under Director of Secondary Education, Assam, Boundary Wall has been constructed in 14nos. of HSLC Examination Centres.
